Mission Statement
To provide members of the community a competitive, USA
Swimming affiliated program for swimmers of all ages and abilities in order to
enhance and support the high school swimming and diving program within Jenks
Public Schools, and to develop each athlete as far as their mental and physical
talents will allow.
Tradition and Philosophy
Tradition of Excellence
The
JENKS TROJAN SWIM CLUB is very proud of its swimmers, their accomplishments,
and the finest group of volunteer swim parents in Oklahoma. Since 1996, JTSC
has become one of the top age group programs in Oklahoma with numerous state
champions and record holders. We have had swimmers compete at every level of
USA Swimming, had numerous honor roll students and academic All-Americans, and
National Age Group Top 16 rankings.
The
JTSC tradition of excellence serves as a foundation upon which to build even
greater success in our future. We eagerly look forward to seeing our swimmers
continue their accomplishÂments at the local level, as well as further their
achievements at the regional and national level.
Philosophy
The
JTSC program is characterized philosophically by the principle of self-image
psychology and positive character development. Program design is concerned with
guiding and directing individuals toward maximum development of their talents
and abilities by providing swimmers the opportunity to use their talents to
"BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE". The staff endeavors to take swimmers as far
as their talent and desire will take them. Our goal is to teach, train, and
motivate young people to achieve and believe in themselves as they grow and
develop.
The
JTSC program strives to instill in young swimmers an understanding of and appreciation
for such concepts as, self-motivation, goal setting, and goal achievement as
these ideas relate to their success in training and in competition.
At
each level of the program, swimmers are instructed to strive for excellence.
Everyone is encouraged to "BE THE BEST YOU CAN BE". This philosophy
is consistent throughout the program.
Team History
Jenks
Community Education, a division of Jenks Public Schools, formed the JENKS
TROJAN SWIM CLUB in the fall of 1996. At the time, there was a community need
for a USA Swimming affiliated club that would support and compliment the Jenks
High School Swimming and Diving program. Jenks swimming from club to high
school is the most successful program in the state of Oklahoma.
In
its first year, JTSC placed in the top six in the State Club Championship
Meets, sent a strong contingent to the Region Meet and has had swimmers compete
in the National Junior Championships. In our second year, we equaled our
inaugural year's accomplishments, and furthered our accomplishments by sending
our first swimmer to Senior National Championships.
We
have grown to over 100 swimmers and continue to expand and improve our program
each year. Our professional staff guides our swimmers from a learn to swim
program, to the USA Swimming program (Novice level through to Senior National.)
Treasury
The Jenks Trojan Swim Club (JTSC) is part of the
Jenks Community Education (JCE) program.
The dues and fees that are collected are put into the JCE accounts. These are the funds used for all of the JTSC
events and equipment. The team requires
a yearly pool fee, membership fee, monthly dues, and meet fees (if a swimmer
swims at a meet) to be paid by the members.
The monthly fees help to cover the following items; Coaches Registrations, Coaches Certifications, Coaches Salaries, Pool Fees for
the Jenks pool, & Pool Fees for ORU for long course training.
Fund Raising
The team has several opportunities throughout the
year to assist with fundraising. They
are Concessions, Chuck-A-Duck, Swim-A-Thon, Triathlon, and poinsettia
sales. If you know of another idea or
are interested in setting up another fund-raiser, please contact a board
member.
Donations
JTSC is a non-profit organization and tax-deductible
donations can be made to the team. If you know someone who would like to donate
funds or equipment, see the Head Coach.
Meet Fees
The team charges a surcharge for all meets. This
surcharge is to help offset the costs for the team to represent us at the
meet. This surcharge does not cover all
of the fees associated with sending a coach to a meet or the costs associated
with putting on a meet. The fundraising
efforts and monthly dues mainly pay for these costs.
There is a host surcharge and a fee for each event
entered. These fees are determined by the hosting team and passed along to the
meet attendees.
Park and Rec Expenses
The parks and recreation program is also
participated in by JTSC. Our members pay
a low one-time fee for each season that allows the swimmer to attend all of the
park & rec meets. If your swimmer
plans on attending these meets, make sure you pay these dues as JTSC pays for
every swimmer who signs up whether or not they swim.
Miscellaneous Expenses
The team incurs operating expense everyday. This is
mainly invisible to the team members. Some of these expenses include; office
supplies, postage, radios, files, gifts, trophies, and cell phone charges. The team also pays mileage to the coaches for
each meet. Our computers are used for
record keeping as well as running meets. The team pays for upgrades to hardware
and software every year.
Financials
The team treasurer will keep the books and have
available to the board the current status of the team finances. If you would like to see a report, please
contact a board member.
