Parent Responsibilities
The OYSTER RIVER OTTERS SWIM TEAM is a competitive swim team that runs on volunteer parent power.
When you sign your swimmer up to become a part of the OTTER team, you, as parents, also become members.
All families are asked to participate in various team activities as well as the general running of the team.
Parents are asked to become involved in
the running of any swim meets in which their child is involved. Your
responsibility to your child’s participation does not end when you sign
up. Come on in and join the fun, the more you participate the more you
will understand and enjoy.
The team makes every effort to meet
schedule obligations that you may have. Please ask if you have any
questions. If any unusual circumstances arise which prevents you from
fulfilling commitments to the team during the season, it is your
responsibility to speak to the coaches as soon as possible.
After you have been with the OTTERS 3
seasons, we expect that at least one member of your family will attend
a training and complete the apprenticeship to become a certified Stroke
& Turn Official. As you gain more experience, you will be trained
to be a starter and then a referee. This helps distribute the workload
and meets the requirements within the leagues.
