January 10th Ladysmith Meet - Sign Up Forms Due

12/29/2008

Here is the form to sign up for the meet.  Notice it is Due by Friday -  January 2, 2009

(just click on title)

Holiday Schedule and Other Information

12/15/2008

As much as we would like to have the Otters swim 24/7, we must cave to the social forces around us and let those little furry critters spend some time with their families.

For those OTTERS who are available to make practice over the break, the practice schedule over the holiday break is the same as normal weeks for Monday and Tuesday, and Friday,  (December 22, 23, 26, 29, 30th, and January 2nd).

There will be an optional practice for those who would like to swim on Wednesday the 24th or the 31st.  This practice will be held from 12:00 noon till 2:00 for Silver and Gold Swimmers who want to work off a few of those Christmas cookies.

Sorry but no practice on the December 25th, or January 1st.  Maybe there will be some snow to shovel or some other "dry-land" activity the Otters can keep busy with....and contrary to the belief of most parents....eating is not a form of excersize.

Have a Very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year!

WE WILL NOT BE ATTENDING THE MERRIL MEET.

Merril sent us some infgormation on the meet warm up times, and pool location.  It is as follows:

HOME MEET - Saturday 12/13/08

12/10/2008

On Saturday 12/13/08 thousands will see the flock of swimmers converging on the Rice Lake Municipal Pool.  The Otters will Host (notice the subtle hint to parents that if you have not signed up to help, the sign up poster is at the pool) the Bayfield Team, New Richmond Tiger Sharks, Eau Claire Aquatics Club, and Phillips.

Swimmers should be to the pool by 7:45am for  warm ups that run from 8:00 to 8:20.  The meet will start at 10:00am.

Kringle Update -THANKS

12/10/2008

As a group, we have ordered 640 Kringles to be delivered fresh to Rice Lake on December 16th.  We ask all who sold Kringles to pick them up between 4:00  5:00 pm and 7:30 pm at 121 Cameron Road (Across from Hilltop Elementary School front doors) on Tuesday December 16th.  This will be confirmed on Monday December 15th when we get our shipping confirmation.  (They reserve the right to confirm in case of snow, etc.)

All Kringles will need to be picked on the 16th.  If you are not available to make the pick up yourself, please ask another club member to collect them for you.

Fun Kringle Facts:

With our order we could serve 7,000 people a nice size piece of Kringle, and have some left over.

Our order adds up to 1,382,400 calories.  If this were converted to energy, the kringles could heat 100 gallons of water.....3.65 degrees...OKAY Kringles don't heat water so well ~ But ~ they taste great.

The Kringles add up to 880 pounds of flavorful sweetness.

With Swimmers using 5,000 calories per day, the Kringles could sustain life in an active swimmer for 275 days.  Try to achieve that with peas and carrots.  It would take over 11,000 cups of peas or over 26,000 cups of carrots to support such an active lifestyle.

Kringles can be thawed, and then re-froze again and again.  Why anyone would ever do this is beyond comprehension, but it could be done.  Because of this we have heard that Kringles may ultimately take the food survival crown from Twinkies (which we all know can survive a nuclear attack)............

11/20/2008

The next meet available for our swimmers is the New Richmond Meet.  Attached is the official meet information that the coaches need to share with easch other.  (Don't worry about the waiver, the club takes care of that)

You will notice this meet does not require those lazy old parents to drag their sore aging bodies out of bed at 5:00 am to get ready to drive half the way across the state.  The warm ups start at 12:20, so be at the pool at NOON - YEH!!!!!  It takes slightly more than an hour to get to New Richmond from Rice Lake.

Conference Championship Meet - February 14 &15, 2009

11/20/2008

We have secured up to 10 rooms for the Rice Lake Otters for the night of Saturday, February 14, 2009.  The Conference Championship meet is a two day meet with the 10& under swimmers completing on Saturday, and 11+ competing on Sunday.

We did not secure rooms in New Richmond the week before at the Divisonal Championship meet because that is within easy commuting distance.

The Block of rooms is at the AmericInn in Minocqua.  The rate is $69/night.  To get one of the rooms, contact the AmericInn in Minocqua and mention you would like to reserve one of the rooms in the block held by the Rice Lake Otters.

Otters Wear Clothes Too!

11/19/2008

Each year our club puts together an order for Otter Apparel.  The order form will be placed in the swim folders on November 19th.  You can also just print out your own order form if you would like from the link below.

We ask that the order forms are turned in NO LATER THAN MONDAY DECEMBER 1st.  This will allow the supplier to complete the order prior to our first home meet on December 13th.

The Otter Apparel is one way our swimmers all become part of the team.  The tote bags are nice to keep the swim stuff from the other stuff.  This year we have added a small crest to the front of the T-shirts to enhance their visual impact.  We also have had thousands of requests for fleece (okay - a few) pants.  Unfortunatly we have not been able to find royal blue, so we may try black or navy blue fleece pants, depending on how many and what color are ordered.

Please remember to turn in your payment with the order form.
