"Men are born to succeed, not fail." ~ Henry David Thoreau
A Senior at Saugus, Jimmy says he is motivated to swim this year, because he doesn't want to look back and have any regrets. He explains, "Whenever I think of slowing down or not trying my best, I tell myself that I will never be able to come back and make up for it."
When asked what the most important quality is for a swimmer, Jimmy says a swimmer should have the ability to motivate him/herself. "There is no one in the water with you in a race, and you have to know how to push yourself." And to ready himself prior to a race, Jimmy says, "I always listen to music and just try to stay as calm as I can, that way when I jump in the water all that controlled energy bursts out and I swim faster." Jimmy also advises his teammates to work hard, adding, "It is so easy in this sport to not give it your all, so it is so important that everyday you try to give it your best effort."
A "hard worker" could describe Jimmy, his favorite event being one of the hardest, the 100 butterfly, and his relentless drive to make it to CIF. However, Jimmy also enjoys baseball, playing the guitar, making music with his brother, and (yes after those long workouts) eating.
As a Senior Captain, Jimmy wants to lead his team to their successes, to leave a legacy that hard work will get you far in and out of the water.
